Owning investment property carries with it a great potential for creating wealth and... some potentially difficult decisions. People are lured to real estate because of the quick buck it promises. Don't hold your breath--you won't get rich quick. An "overnight sensation" usually takes about five years. Keep in mind this is not a 'hands off' business.

So What is the Answer?

Starting a home business that you can work part-time makes a lot of sense. First you can build a residual income and cash reserve. Even an extra $300-500 a month that is coming in steadily each and every month can give you the reserves you may need. It could make the difference in allowing you to hang onto your property while finding a new tenant when it makes financial sense to do so, or give you the funds you need to fix the damage caused by a prior tenant, etc.
